Thank you so much for following along!

The Mighty Rib is 1 today. And what a year it has been. When I sat down in front of my computer a year ago, never did I think that writing about food would lead to such interesting twists and turns in life. Heck, I really didn’t even know what I would write about. I knew there were a million food blogs out there, and if I was going to do this thing, I needed a unique angle. That angle came in the form of consistency. My goal was to have something new posted every day, and to make a routine out of it. The blog would be a place where people could get a restaurant review on Mondays or a drink recipe on Thursdays or a great recipe on Tuesdays.

But I also knew the only way for the blog to be appealing was to get the fresh perspective of other writers. So, I formed a team of unbelievably kind and talented people to help me along the way. Every person from “The Help” has given their time and dedication to making this blog what it is. I am so very appreciative of them.

One of the many recipes from this year.

There are a few people I especially want to thank. Molly, or” Vegetarian View”, was the first person to recognize the blog’s potential and to encourage me to promote it. She’s constantly helping out with behind-the-scene things, writing the “Vegetarian View”, and providing “Food Finds”. My cousin Melissa, aka “The Junkie”, is the brains behind the website. Her time, effort, and dedication are the reasons that The Mighty Rib looks so nice.  There is no telling how many times I’ve bugged her this year.  My good friend Carrie contributes so much to the blog through her “He Said, She Said”, “Carrie’s Confections” and numerous entries for “Food Finds”.

I also want to thank Albert, from Htownchowdown. He’s a wonderful writer, an eternal optimist, and one of the first fellow Houston food bloggers to offer words of encouragement early on. Thanks to the 2011 James Beard Award Nominee Katharine Shilcutt of the Houston Press for writing such nice words about the blog on Houston Press’ Eating Our Words during our infancy stage.

About six months into The Mighty Rib, I started writing for Eating Our Words. I can’t express enough what an amazing experience this has been. The people I’ve met, the food I’ve eaten, and the events I’ve attended, often times just make me want to pinch myself.

The Mighty Rib Crawl

The Mighty Rib will keep getting better, that I can promise.

Finally, I want to thank my wife Sara. She has put up with me through all these culinary adventures. She is my sounding board, my editor, my kick-in-the-ass, but most importantly…my support.

Here’s to another great year!
