For Mike, it’s all about finding that perfect balance between fun and work!

Here are some observations/random bits of information/things I’ve learned over the last couple of months on my quest to lose a small person.

  • I’m apparently “one of the girls” now at my office. Let me explain – I’ve started walking with some of them during lunch and on breaks. It’s very enlightening to say the least.
  • There’s a new show on A&E called “Heavy”, which follows chunky obese people as they try to lose weight. I’ve never been one to watch these kinds of shows, probably because they tend to hit a little too close to home. But I think I’m gonna give this one a try. After watching such stellar programming as “Intervention”, “Hoarders” and “Steven Seagal: Lawman”, I don’t see how A&E can miss with this one.
  • Why are big and tall clothes also terrible and ugly? Thank goodness Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein understand that some bigger people like to dress well. I guess when the weight’s gone, it will be a moot point anyway.

NFL Championship Game picks:

AFC – Steelers 23, Jets 20
The loudmouth Jets get sent packing by Big Ben and the Steelers. Could a 3rd ring be in sight for Roethlisberger? If it’s anyone besides the Texans or Pats, I hope it’s the boys from the Steel City.

NFC – Packers 27, Bears 21
Aaron Rodgers has his team on the cusp of a Super Bowl berth. When the Pack decided to let Favre walk, this is what they were waiting for. And that Packers D is good. The elements will be in play here, but it’s not like the Packers aren’t used to playing in snow.

  • Finally, I’m heading to local restaurant Haven tomorrow night. I’ve heard lots of good things about it, so I’ll pass along my impressions in next week’s entry.

I’m a sucker for A&E tv shows. I watch ’em all, including Heavy. I loved it. It’s definitely not like those other weight loss shows on tv. It’s raw, real and very inspiring.
