My random thoughts…brought to you once a week!

  • Can someone please give Martin Short a job?  He’s one of the funniest men alive and all I get nowadays is his voice on The Cat and the Hat.  Bring back Jiminy Glick!
  • I’ve never seen a Harry Potter movie.  Don’t plan on it.  Same goes for Lord of the Rings.
  • I have used a little more than half a tank of gas in almost one full month in Boston.
  • I love celery diced into small pieces.  I hate large chunks of it. Weird.
  • The biggest difference from driving in Boston over driving in Houston…if you take your eyes off the road for one second in Boston, you’ll run over a pedestrian.
  • I miss refried beans.
  • What the f is a pingback?
  • Have you seen the new HBO documentary The Curious Case of Curt Flood?  You should.
  • I HATE music on web sites. It’s almost more annoying than pop-up ads.  Almost.
  • I’ve had a good week thus far in my new role as Mr. Mom.  My two-year-old has only stepped on my nuts twice.  Actually, let’s call it a great week.
  • Great picture isn’t it?  Special thanks go out to Natalie for letting me borrow this one.  Want to see more great photos?

Same with me on Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings! And Twilight! I hate celery in ALL forms though. I guess it’s good for anorexics though since you burn more calories eating it than it gives you in actual consumption. I hate music on web sites too! That shit has been driving me NUTS these days! And what is this picture from? I think Rory would get you more hits 🙂

Let me add Matrix to the list.

Them fightin’ words about the dog pic. You know Natalie the Nomad? It’s her doggie.

You mean music that auto streams or videos of music on web pages? if it’s streaming than yes I concur.

But Potter? Potter 1,2,3 & 4 was abit lame but provided a growing story. Potter 5 thru 8 David Yates took over on directing and the story gained one director’s perspective instead of three. IDK, dark and gothic subject matter appeal to me at times so I liked the later years of Potter.

I definitely mean the auto streams.

Question for you Chris…are you a fan of Martin Short? And be honest.

There is nothing noble about intentionally avoiding things in pop culture. Trust me, you won’t get assimilated into their lifestyle.

Ignorance is never better. Watch them, and then formulate an opinion. I don’t think any Harry Potter film is as good as Star Wars (and I’m not a huge Star Wars fan), but I’ve seen all the films.

Do you draw the same line with food? “I don’t eat chocolate. Haaaaa!”

Just soapboxin’. Cheers!

Truth be told, it’s really just an overall genre thing. But with Lord of the Rings, it gets a little specific. Elijah Wood weirds me out.

SirRon July 21, 2011 at 9:28 am

I totally agree on the genre thing. Matrix, Transformers, etc fall into the same category. I still think some movies become bigger than just a movie… transcendent for whatever reason. I argue that you must see these.

Again with food… Food trends can be annoying, and I’m not suggesting to chase every one, but the ones that really take off, you owe it to yourself to try. This will make your opinion (like or dislike) mean something.

I’m not really picking on Unique Randomness. I love reading these every week. I’m just… hmmm… I’m just defending Harry Potter for non-Potter fans I guess 🙂

Oh yes, and soapboxin’ my values. Carry on.

I guess the real question for you SirRon, do you think Martin Short is funny?

Chris July 21, 2011 at 1:24 pm

Well I guess my reply didn’t make it, but it was yes, I think M. Short is funny.

Ever since Three Amigos and his, “I’m Possessed” line from Innerspace: http://www.wavlist.com/movies/213/is-possessed.wav

The Mighty Rib July 21, 2011 at 2:04 pm

That scene from Innerspace is almost my favorite comedic scene ever. Only behind the one from Big Lebowski where they dump Donny’s ashes. “Good night sweet prince.”
