Saturdays are for testing out recipes and giving you the skinny. For the new site, each recipe comes from a food blogger from around the country. This week’s recipe comes right here from Houston…Blue Jean Gourmet.

The Ease

This one is easy, but only if you don’t get carried away.  Do yourself a favor and pick up a rotisserie chicken from the store, remove the meat from the bone, and give it a good chop.  The rest of the recipe is just mixing in a bowl.

The Taste

This was my favorite recipe I’ve cooked all year!  That’s saying something, because if you read this blog regularly, you know I’ve done a lot of cooking.  The sweetness of the apples, the crunch from the nuts, celery, and onions, along with the creaminess of the mayo, made this one of the best chicken salads I have ever eaten…anywhere.

The Verdict

Nothing but high praise for this simple, yet genius Nishta concoction.  This recipe represents everything I love about cooking–something that looks good, has basic ingredients, and is just plain tasty.

Why you should go to this site…

I’ll make this pretty simple and straightforward–Blue Jean Gourmet is probably the best food blog in Houston.  Consistent posts and great recipes!  Oh, and don’t forget about the photography–good luck finding better.
