Mondays are dedicated to bringing you a restaurant review. Keeping it local this week!
The Place
Mi Sombrero won’t win any awards for Best Anything. It’s a solid Mexican food restaurant with good food and service. The food is consistent, and although the interior isn’t much to look at, you do feel very comfortable with its laid back nature. What will upset you a bit about Mi Sombrero has nothing to do with the food. In fact, I’ve changed my mind…they do win an award–Top Sh*tty Parking Lot. There’s potholes that would make craters in the Grand Canyon wince. Sorry, that didn’t make much sense, but you get my drift. What they lack in gravel and asphalt, the fine folks make up for in food preparation.
The Food
I know the picture doesn’t look the most appetizing, but trust me–get the shredded chicken nachos. The chicken is so tender and juicy–smothered in just a small amount of cheese! Healthy, they are not, but these are some dang good nachos. Like I said, everything on the menu is solid. Mi Sombrero even serves a mean breakfast.
The Verdict
I really like this place. Sure, there’s better out there. But I like supporting neighborhood joints and Mi Sombrero fits that mold. The people there as very friendly as well. Good kid place. They even have an ice cream machine (free). The margaritas are good as well.
