A family fish fry benefitting the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is set for this Saturday, September 29th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel. The event will be held outside on the drawbridge covered patio area north of the hotel overlooking the Arkansas River.

The all-inclusive family event costs $20 for adults and children 12 and under are free. Fathead BBQ, Etc. will be heading up the food, which includes fried catfish and chicken tenders, along with all the fixins’. There will be a bouncy house and live music by Alex Summerlin. There will even be a silent auction with all proceeds benefitting the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. Tickets can be purchased online or at the event.

“The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is the lead organization for hunger relief in the state, working with the six regional Feeding America food banks and over 700 small pantries, feeding programs and shelters across Arkansas. We are active in every county, addressing food insecurity through education (Cooking Matters program), advocacy on both state and federal levels, gleaning and food sourcing, tackling childhood hunger at school home and play through No Kid Hungry, assisting those in immediate need through SNAP outreach, and more,” says Mary Bea Gross, Development Director.

This is the first year for the fish fry and folks over at the organization are very excited.

“Event Chair Jeff McClure has a true heart for children in need, and wanted to do something to help hungry children in Arkansas. He contacted us over a year ago with the idea of the fish fry, and its super-cool location on the drawbridge overlooking the Arkansas River developed when he became the Sales Director at the Doubletree Hotel in Little Rock. He has put the entire event together, from sponsors to food to music and silent auction,” says Gross.

It looks like nice, mild weather is in store for Saturday, so please consider coming out for a great cause … and some fried fish!

Where to Park?

The easiest parking would probably be in the Doubletree deck, adjacent to the event venue. One of the exits comes up on the brick area right by check in. The ASO has a concert that night as well, but it doesn’t start until 7:30 p.m.
