We were talking fried chicken on the blog last week because of National Fried Chicken Day, so I posted this question on Facebook: What is your favorite fried chicken in Little Rock? We had a great response, so I figured it was a good time to highlight 15 places mentioned on the thread, some of which I’ve tried, and others, I have not. Just know, I didn’t include Popeye’s, a popular chain favorite. If there are any major omissions, please leave them in the comment box below.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich at Petit & Keet
I had a bite of this sandwich a few weeks ago, and although it really isn’t a traditional hot chicken sandwich, it is quite tasty and the pimento cheese is a nice touch.

Maddie’s Place

Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast w/ Mac & Cheese, & Slow Cooked Greens at Maddie’s Place
This fried chicken platter probably got the most votes on the thread, and for good reason, as it’s a wonderful dish filled with all sorts of flavors. The greens are a little sweeter than I prefer, but a bite of them mixed with the mac & cheese and chicken is quite delightful.

Fried Chicken at Homer’s

Fried Chicken Tenders at Franke’s Cafeteria
This is my personal favorite fried chicken in Little Rock. Call me crazy, but it just doesn’t get much better than one of these bad boys dipped in the honey mustard.

Fried Chicken at David Family Kitchen

Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ Pickles and Cole Slaw at South on Main
Without question one of the best sandwiches in town. The hot chicken sandwich at South on Main is this perfect combo of greasy and spicy, all cooled down by the accompanying cole slaw, which I also adore.

Fried Chicken at The Kitchen Express

Fried Chicken at Chester’s (inside Edwards Food Giant)
This is just plain ol’ stick-to-your-ribs fried chicken. It’s no-frills and greasy, but in a good way, and is super affordable.

Fried Chicken at Lazy Pete’s

Hot Chicken Sandwich at Big Orange

Capital Bar and Grill

Fried Chicken w/ Potato Salad and Green Beans at Capital Bar and Grill
This is only available on Wednesdays as a lunch Special, so plan accordingly. Well seasoned and super crispy, this fried chicken is one of the more iconic dishes in Little Rock.

Fried Chicken at Bobby’s Country Cookin’

Fried Chicken Tenders at JoJo’s Bar-B-Q

Fried Chicken at K Hall and Sons
I’ve never had the fried chicken at K Hall, but I’ve heard good things, and if it’s anything like their fried pork chop or catfish, then it will be stellar. I’m guessing it is.

Gus’s

Fried Chicken at Gus’s
While I was never a fan of the fried chicken at the WLR location, the product at Gus’s downtown is a lot better. This chicken is a little spicier than your typical fried chicken, but certainly not in an overwhelming way.

I think Stickyz with their handmade cut and breaded is a fantastic Little Rock favorite. You must have missed it on your journey to find the best.
