Ever wonder what other foodies are thinking? Me too. Special thanks to Stephanie for her answers!
1. How many years have you lived in Little Rock? This September will be ten years. That’s a long time for a country girl.
2. Is there a particular cuisine you just can’t get enough of? If I’m eating at home, Italian is my go to. If I’m going out, first picks are Japanese (sushi) or Thai. Those are harder for me to make well at home.
3. Do you cook/bake often? If so, what are a few of your favorite dishes to prepare? Yes! I associate a lot of dishes with family. Homemade pasta reminds me of my Aunt. I loved that she trusted me to crack eggs and never fussed as she pulled out the bits of shell. When I miss my Grandmother, I pull out her dough bowl and make white bread or sweet rolls.
4. What is one of your guilty food pleasure items? Kraft Mac & Cheese from a box. The color is so bazaar, but it reels me in. I usually cook from scratch, but, once a year or so, I’ll indulge.
5. When is the last time you walked out of a restaurant completely satisfied? I recently had a great experience at Faded Rose, of which I’m usually not a fan. It was a day that the service was on point and the etouffee was excellent.
6. Who has the best burgers in town? Until two months ago, this would have been the Riverdale Buffalo Grill, no question. After my last few visits, however, I’m looking for a new love.
7. What’s one word you’d use to describe the LR-area dining scene? Noisy
8. What’s the most exotic food you’ve ever eaten? Does sushi at a bar in Guadalahara count? Not my brightest moment.
9. Where’s your favorite meal within a 50-mile radius of Little Rock? Unless my brother is grilling steaks, I’d have to say Casa MaƱana.
10. Is there a restaurant you loved as a child but is no longer around? The Daredevil Diner. It was a short-lived affair in the very rural area where I grew up. The diner, and it’s signature, plate-sized burger, were named for my alma mater’s mascot, the Wonderview Daredevil.
