My second installment in a series dedicated to the best foods from my past year in Boston.

First Prize
Chocolate Chunk Cookie from Clear Flour Bread: Is this cookie a tad overpriced? Maybe. But perfection does tend to come with a higher price tag. And that is exactly what this cookie is…perfection. Tiny sheets of smooth chocolate are scattered throughout the cookie. The texture is both chewy and crisp…how the hell is that possible? I lived just a short walk from Clear Flour. Let’s just say I had my fair share of Chocolate Chunks.

A Close Second
Apple Cider Muffin from 3 Little Figs: I heart this place. Hell, I love every damn thing about it…and at the top of my list is the sacred Apple Cider Muffin. Pair this dense, rustic-shaped muffin with a cup of their coffee and you’ve just entered a little place I like to call Heaven. The cinnamon sugar coating is what takes this baked good to a higher level. You really can’t go wrong with any muffin at 3 Little Figs. I even recommend their Avocado.

Honorable Mention
Espresso Cannoli from Mike’s Pastry: Save the speech Bostonians…I know this place is a bit touristy. But there’s a line down the street at 10pm every Saturday night for a reason. And that reason (at least for me) is the Espresso Cannoli. The ricotta-based filling is very thick, has a hint of coffee taste, and contains just the right amount of sweetness. And what really does it for me? The mini-chocolate chips on both ends that help give the dessert that mocha flavor.
