We are constantly on the prowl for cool products, promotions, and events!

Representatives of Cholula Hot Sauce recently sent me samples of their Chili Garlic Hot Sauce—in anticipation of National Chili Garlic Week (starting 10/24).

Strangely, I’ve never tried Cholula. I scanned their web site for just the right recipe, deciding on the Cholula Chicken Corn Chowder. Why? I enjoy making soups and this time of year is just perfect for chowder.

And this one turned out great! I made a few changes to the original recipe—substituting mushrooms for the bell peppers and adding three cups of chopped (and previously boiled) potatoes.

The end result was a hearty bowl of soup, wonderfully sweet from the corn, with a nice slow burn from the Cholula Garlic Hot Sauce. Feel free to play with the amount of hot sauce. I used two tablespoons, which provide a good heat, but not so much where my daughter couldn’t enjoy.

“We’re also hosting a Twitter party on Wednesday, 10/26 at 5PM PST. Join in! We’ll have garlic aficionados sharing recipes, cooking tips and telling “mildly offensive” tales of garlic-passion cuisine. And you can win a lot of cool stuff too: Cholula 4-packs, Williams-Sonoma gift cards and even an All-Clad Deluxe Slow Cooker! Invite your readers by having them search and tweet with the hashtag #CholulaChiliGarlic during the party, and check http://twitter.com/CholulaHotSauce for updates.”
