Where do I begin? Being a native Louisianan, I can truly say not only do we love good food, we KNOW good food. My Arkansan husband has the same outlook, and I thoroughly appreciate that. As with many of you, we are spending more time at home. Recently, however, my husband, Knoxie, treated me to lunch. I had been seeing some great reviews of Mr. Cajun’s Kitchen on social media and we wanted to check out the restaurant. As I mentioned, I’m from Louisiana, so I was a bit skeptical on whether I’d be impressed. One thing we Louisianans don’t do is eat ‘cajun/creole’ food outside of our own cooking, family’s homes, and of course, while we are away from Louisiana. So, I had reservations, but we decided to give Mr. Cajun’s Kitchen a try anyway.

Boy oh boy, we were glad we did!

We both ordered pasta. I got the salmon and Knoxie ordered the shrimp. Both were cooked to perfection, blackened, yet still juicy. The dishes were perfectly seasoned. As gardeners, we know the taste of freshness. We could taste the fresh herbs they used to season the dishes. We appreciated that. The pasta was cooked al dente, which is always a win in our opinion. The sauce on the pasta had a great consistency, not to thick or too thin. We ordered extra sauce, because we detest dry dishes. The portion sizes were humongous, but we did not let it go to waste. We used the extra sauce when we reheated the leftovers for dinner. All in all, everything was great, from the ease of placing the order to parking to the customer service.

We highly recommend a visit to Mr. Cajun’s Kitchen. The restaurant is conveniently located at 606 North Olive Street just off US-167 in North Little Rock’s Argenta area. The building is brightly painted in the proud Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and yellow gold. We wanted beads! The staff wore head covering, masks, and gloves. We were pleasantly greeted, asked to come again, and thanked. We truly appreciated the southern hospitality. We highly recommend a visit!
