Mondays are dedicated to bringing you a restaurant review from Houston or from around the country.
The Place
Does the name baffle you? Go the website and you’ll find this explanation: “The name 105degrees represents the optimum temperature for preparing living cuisine, also called raw food cuisine, without harming its healthful properties.” Yeah, riiiight. This vegan/vegetarian/organic/what-the-hell-you-wanna-call-it restaurant is not a typical landing spot for yours truly. But my in-laws said I needed to check this place out, and they know I’m game. 105degrees is the last place you’d envision sitting in the middle of Oklahoma City. But this city is changing, and with change comes organic restaurants, Whole Food Markets, and gastropubs.
I’m not going to beat around the bush on this one…this place is weird and freaks me out. I just felt uncomfortable with the entire concept. I can’t believe I’m writing this, but 105degrees felt too clean. Adjectives that describe the smell of this place–organic, earthy, and pure. It smelled like someone irrigated a pasture with alcohol.
The arrangement is quite unique…curved bar of front, bamboo tables to dine, and an open “kitchen” concept that looked like something out of a Food Network set.
The Food
I ordered the caprese and Sara got the avocado dip. Pictured above, the caprese turned out to be quite tasty. The heirloom tomatoes, basil sweet balsamic vinegar, and cashew ricotta were delicious together. That cheese really stood out (but I wanted more). The presentation was nothing special. Sara’s chips and guac, oh..I’m sorry, Fork Crusted Avocado, was average, and under seasoned. There’s some crazy sh*t on 105’s menu. I’ll give it to them in the creativity department. How does a Sprouted Grain VLT sound? Yeah, I thought so.
The Verdict
I’m glad I tried this place out, but more for conversation than for the food. The food wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t memorable. And $10 for a few small tomatoes and cheese is ridiculous. I’m sure there’s one of these places on every corner in LA. It will be interesting to see if the one and only in Oklahoma City’s will make it.

This place sounds right up my alley. And when I went to their website, one of my favorite songs started playing on their homepage. Must be sign I should fly to OK City asap.
