We are constantly on the prowl for cool products! Special thanks to Carrie for bringing us this one.
After attending the New Mexican Hatch Brunch class at Central Market (more on that later this week), I decided to take a spin around the market to pick up my Hatch chile peppers and to browse the other Hatch goodies. If you have any opportunity to get to Central Market before the 30th, do yourself the favor and go! Hatch treats are around every corner, including this little gem…Native Texan Hatch Green Chile Queso.
Heavy on peppery goodness, this queso is made from a mix of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. I will admit that I have, unfortunately, eaten jarred queso now and again and have always found the flavor to be that of fake cheese and heat, but not of actual peppers. Not the case with Native Texan. The Hatch peppers provide a good level of smoky heat that balances well with the tangy cheese.
As I mentioned, I found my jar at Central Market, and it set me back a mere $3.99. There is a limited quantity, so get it soon!
