For Mike, life is all about finding that perfect mix of fun and hard work.

This week I want to talk about one of the most important parts of this journey – support.  Without the love and support of my family and friends, it wouldn’t matter about the choices I make.  But they have been there with me through thick and thin, always offering kind words and trying to steer me in the right direction.  Sometimes, they’re pushy and it pisses me off, but in the end I know they’re only doing it for me.

So, this entry will be short.  It is mainly to share my gratitude to those who are helping.  Aside from my family, who I can actually communicate with in person and not on a website, there are some key individuals behind the scenes.  First and foremost is Kevin.  You have allowed me a forum to voice my frustrations, thoughts, struggles and hopefully triumphs.  When you approached me about this idea, I was really excited.  But I didn’t really stop to appreciate what it meant from your side.  This site is your baby, and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.

Secondly, to those of you who read this regularly (and even those who just stumbled upon it and have made it this far) – thanks for doing so.  I may not know you, but I know you’re out there and it really does help me try to stay accountable.  Please keep reading, and I hope the story continues to get better as we go along.

Finally, I want to thank myself.  You may be thinking to yourself, “Self – why would he be such a pompous a$$ and thank himself”?  But the fact is, I rarely see things through.  I’m a hell of a starter, but I’ve never been much of a finisher.  I’ve always fancied myself as the idea man, but now I want to be the idea man and the implementation man, too.

So, here’s to the past couple of months.  I’m learning a lot about food, how it’s affected me, and how I plan on using it in the future.  Buckle up, we’re just getting started.  And where we’re going, we don’t need roads (sorry I couldn’t resist a little BTTF humor)…
