My random thoughts…brought to you once a week!

  • I’m getting used to this “Cash Only” policy at a lot of Boston restaurants. But would it kill them to at least post a subtle sign out front?
  • Video of the Week: Check this shit out! Might be the only time ballet is mentioned on this blog.
  • What a sick situation at Penn State.
  • Trader Joes continues to astound me…in a good way. I dare you to find something bad in their frozen food section. And don’t even get me started on the advances they’ve made in the world of breakfast bars.
  • We visited Matt Murphy’s Pub in Brookline last week. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and decent food. Although, I’d definitely pass on the pork chop. It was overcooked and dried out.
  • I will eat any food that has “with sea salt” attached to its description. I’ll pass on the shaved bull testicles, but sign me up for the shaved bull testicles with sea salt.
  • Creepiest Line in a Kid’s Show: “Your mother will not mind at all if you do.” –from The Cat in the Hat And right after Martin Short utters that trademark line, two kids pile into a penis-shaped thing-a-ma-jigger.
  • Do you remember when buying a microwave was a BIG deal?
  • All-Time Favorite Food Moments: #7-Eating a Vietnamese vermicelli bowl soaked in fish sauce.
  • Read The Giving Tree a few times…it answers all of life’s questions.
  • I’m officially old. I now prefer the taste of wheat bread over white.
  • Speaking of bread, I’m all for supporting Farmer’s Markets. But damn…$12 for a small loaf of pumpkin bread! I cry foul!
  • Top 5 Foods from the Past Month: #5-Lamb shank from Lola (Seattle) #4-Pork belly from Grafton Street (Cambridge) #3-Pastrami from Michael’s Deli (Brookline) #2-Chowder from Pike Place Chowder (Seattle) #1-Zucchini blossom from Adriatic (Salem)

YES! Chowder made the list.

Cat in the Hat is the creepiest show out there, for real. I refuse for the theme music to even come on around here. I also can’t decide if Sid the Science Kid is… special… or not.

I tell you who’s special…that damn Martha. You know…she Speaks.

I don’t think Sid is, but that attention-challenged friend of his might be….

We grew up in love with Roman Meal wheat bread. However, I haven’t been able to find it for months. 🙁

As for Penn State, damn.

I now have a new side project..to track down Roman Meal Wheat Bread.

That is good bread. And I agree with anonymous above that Did’s friend strikes me as the one that’s…”off”.

Microwave?!? I remember going with my whole family to buy our first VCR. That sucker was like $500 or something!

I can VIVIDLY remember spending all day at the Sears on Shepherd and picking out just the right microwave. That sucker lasted about 20 years!
