Ever wonder what other foodies are thinking? Me too!
1. What is the name of your blog? Eat. Drink. Smile.
2. Could you describe your blog in one sentence? Eat. Drink. Smile. follows Beth (me!), a food and drink obsessed girl, on her culinary adventures as she discovers and shares delicious recipes, cool restaurants, and fun new products.
3. How did you get into food blogging? For many many years, I’ve been known in my circle of friends and acquaintances as the one who stays on top of events happening around town and knows the best places to eat and drink, whether it’s here in Nashville, or other cities throughout the U.S. Because of this, I often get asked for input on all of these things.
In addition, since I cook quite often, I’m always giving out favorite recipes to friends and family. At some point I realized that it would be much easier to share by posting online instead of via email every time someone asked. It was never really something I thought about other people reading- just people who already knew me. Now there are FAR more people I’ve never met reading than people I actually know!
4. What’s the toughest part of writing about food? Keeping off the weight that can sometimes come along with eating all the food!
5. What’s been your favorite food moment? Summer of 2009, Tom Tuesday Dinner with Tom Colicchio in NYC. It was extremely difficult to get a reservation, but I finally scored! Being in that intimate dining room with 3 of my good friends as dish after incredible dish came out was an experience I will never forget.
6. Do you have a top restaurant? If so, what’s the name and is there an item you generally order? I get asked that question a lot, but I don’t have an answer. Sure, there are many places that I frequent often, but which one I like the most and what I order depends on my mood. I am a Gemini after all 😉
I will say that there are a few dishes here in Nashville that I’ve ordered multiple times: pork belly pizza at City House, the Brussels sprouts at Cha Chah and the kale salad at Kayne Prime.
7. What’s one U.S. city you’d travel to just for the food? You mean what city DO I travel to just for food? San Francisco. From the farmers’ market at the Ferry Building to a hole-in-the-wall Chinese place to a 5 course chef’s tasting at my favorite Michelin starred Moroccan restaurant, the food scene is simply amazing.
8. Is there a food you absolutely despise? Mayonnaise. Potato salad, egg salad- basically any salad that’s very mayonnaisy. That said, I can sometimes handle mayo if it’s used in very small amounts, and have even recently begun to enjoy some chicken salads. Emphasis on some.
9. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever eaten? I was very adventurous when traveling through China last year and ate just about everything put in front of me, but the most unusual was probably Sea Cucumber.
In Wenzhou, they served it as a raw preparation chopped up in a soupy mixture with ginger and rice wine. It was divine. Then, in Hangzhou, I was served a whole, very gelatinous, boiled sea cucumber that was dreadful. Funny that I can count it as one of the best foods I’ve ever eaten AND one of the worst!
10. Are you more likely to stick with what you know, or do you try something new each time? I’m most likely going to try something new, although occasionally I’ll order a tried and true. My favorite way to dine is with a small group of adventurous eaters, and we all order something different to share!
Editor’s Note: Congrats to Beth on her new position as Senior Marketing Manager of Goo Goo Cluster!

Wow. Love it love it!!! I’m just a low level cook, but would love to share a few things with you such as my BBQ pork quesadillas, my mom’s Italian enchiladas, and a spicy southwest chicken club wrap. All originals and would love your take on them since you have grown to coinesseur (sp?) Status. Lol. Yur input would be greatly appreciated as I would like to possibly market said ideas in the future.
