I will post a “buzz word” on The Mighty Rib Facebook page–then ask for reader suggestions for one dish that includes the word. One is randomly picked, dish is eaten, and review is written.

Welcome to our latest edition of “What Ashli Suggests I Eat.” I jest, but that’s now two Buzz Words in a row for Ashli. And I swear it was random!

Our latest word was chocolate. This represents the first time I’ve gone with a dessert-heavy ingredient, although I was very interested to see if any savory entree suggestions would make their way into the comment box. Sure enough, Local Lime’s fantastic chicken mole enchiladas made an appearance. What a wonderful dish, but that’s a post for another time.

This entry is all about the dark chocolate sorbet from Loblolly Creamery. To no one’s surprise, the frozen treat was wonderful, just like everything else Loblolly churns out. The sorbet was a beautiful deep brown and had a very rich, dark chocolate flavor.  The icy texture quickly melted into a bowl of soft decadence. If you’re having a hard time imagining the taste, just think of a much more awesome version of a Fudgesicle.

It was devine! Regretfully, I only purchased one pint at the Argenta Market (side note: this was another great tip from Ashli–Loblolly’s products are sold here). The scoop you see pictured above was my only taste. My 9-year-old daughter got her grubby little hands on the rest.

One other side note, you can also find this sorbet pop up on South on Main’s dessert menu. Just the other night, I saw a scoop resting atop one of head pastry chef Matthew Lowman’s “jar” creations.

So, there you have it…short and SWEET: Loblolly’s dark chocolate sorbet was fantastic. But you already knew that.
